About ILAP

The Immigration Legal Assistance Program (ILAP) was established by Ascentria Care Alliance (Ascentria) on July 1, 2000 to provide legal assistance to low-income immigrants and refugees in Central Massachusetts who are applying for citizenship and adjustment of status (i.e., “green card”). In the course of its development, the need for more extensive services became evident. Since 2000, ILAP has expanded its services significantly to include pro bono legal representation of asylum seekers and unaccompanied minors as well as survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

ILAP receives funding from a variety of sources, including the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, Vera Institute, Lutheran Immigrant and Refugee Services, Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance, Massachusetts Office for Refugees and Immigrants, Project Citizenship, Greater Worcester Community Foundation, private foundations, and individual donations. We are always seeking new sources of support. Please visit the Get Involved section of the website to learn how to help.
