What we do for businesses

The Microenterprise Development Program of Ascentria Care Alliance was created in partnership with the Federal Office of Refugee Resettlement in October 2010. Our goal is to strengthen refugee-owned businesses and to help business owners attain economic self-sufficiency.

The program provides business planning, financing and business training to refugees and asylees in Massachusetts. Applicants receive guidance in budgeting, marketing, finance and obtaining permits and licenses. Typically, refugees lack sufficient credit histories or loan collateral to receive traditional business loans. The Microenterprise Development Program removes these barriers. Loans are available from $500 to $15,000. Larger loans are administered by our lending partner, Commerce Bank.
