SNAP-Ed Nutrition Program

The goal of the Ascentria community services SNAP-Ed Nutrition Program is to increase the likelihood that members of the local community in Hampden County, specifically those who receive SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) or who are SNAP eligible, make healthy food choices and lead physically active lives.

Our mission is to improve the likelihood that our participants will make healthy food choices within a limited budget and choose physically active lifestyles.

We seek to positively influence each participant’s ability to shop for healthy foods on a budget, understand nutrition labels, and implement food safety practices. The SNAP-Ed program partners and collaborates with many organizations within the community including: Boys and Girls Club of West Springfield; local elementary schools; the Westfield Council on Aging; YMCA of Westfield; and WIC.

We work with refugee and immigrant populations; school aged children; as well as families, adults and the elderly throughout the community.  Additional information on nutrition, meal planning and recipes can be found at:
