Program Good News Garage - Manchester
  • Drive donated vehicles - pick up or deliver
    • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle safely and legally
    • Must have a basic understanding of vehicle functionality
  • Become a Good News Garage "Ambassador": Good News Garage has helped thousands of low-income clients receive donated vehicles. Spread the good news by giving talks about the program at area churches, civic groups and local events.
  • Marketing & PR: Put your marketing and public relations skills to work by helping us get the GNG name out to the masses. Hang posters in the library, bookstore and other locations in your community.
  • Other Opportunities: There are many other ways to get involved and support our car donation program. These include data entry, assisting with mailings, compiling client folders, clerical work in the GNG office, and more. We are also interested in small school classes or youth groups who might be interested in helping out as well.

Program Services for New Americans - Concord
  • Help transport newly arrived refugees to and from important appointments
  • Teach newly arrived refugees how to navigate the bus system
  • Tutor in our education and employment classes
  • Visit families’ homes to reinforce classroom lessons
  • Deliver donations to new families
  • Assist refugees in filling out applications for social security cards and state IDs. Transport them to government agencies and help them complete the proper forms to obtain these documents.
  • Help a newly arrived refugee family or individual learn about life in America. Activities may include teaching them how to walk to the grocery store or library, helping children with their homework, and helping them become familiar with their new surroundings.
  • Assist staff by helping in a variety of office and clerical areas
  • Purchase general household items or groceries for newly arriving refugee(s).
  • Help with the initial set up of a house or an apartment before refugee(s) arrive. Move in furniture and household items and arrange things to make it feel more like home.
  • Coordinate activities to encourage organic integration, cultural orientation, and FUN!
  • Organize fundraising and in-kind donation drives
  • Share your employment expertise and experience with New Americans, review their resumes, practice interviewing, and assist in their job search.
  • Create resumes for New Americans based on their past work/volunteer/educational background.
  • Using created resumes, search for job opportunities online and apply for a New American, keeping a log of places applied for follow up.
  • Review what a budget is and help to develop a personalized budget emphasizing the importance of saving for economic self sufficiency.
  • Assist the Community Outreach Coordinator in planning monthly volunteer meetings, annual volunteer appreciate gala, and group volunteer opportunities.
  • Assist the medical caseworker with billing reconciliation, medical forms and filing, transportation to appointments, and financial assistance.
  • Plan a monthly spread of stories, pictures, video, local events, and news updates for SNA to be shared for web, press, FB, Twitter.
  • Search for apartments online and build contacts with new landlords. Visit New Americans’ houses to review safety and cleanliness.

  • Help with childcare at our monthly foster parent support group
  • Hold a donation drive to collect gift cards for: groceries, basic household needs and back to school items
